About Fraction Simplifier
There is nothing math teachers hate more than an unsimplified fraction. Leaving an answer as "16/24" is technically correct but mathematically impolite. The Fraction Simplifier automates the process of reduction, finding the "Simplest Form" (Lowest Terms) of any fraction.
What is Simplest Form?
A fraction is in simplest form when the top (Numerator) and bottom (Denominator) share no common factors other than 1. They are "relatively prime".
The Process
- Find the Greatest Common Factor (GCF) of the numerator and denominator.
- Divide both numbers by the GCF.
- Example: for 50/100. GCF is 50.
50 / 50 = 1.
100 / 50 = 2.
Result: 1/2.
How to Use
Input the Numerator and Denominator. The tool provides the reduced fraction. It handles large numbers instantly, which is perfect for checking homework.
