About Road Grade Calculator
Cyclists and RV drivers need to know the steepness of a hill. Grade is expressed as a percentage: Rise over Run.
Examples
- 5% Grade: Challenging for trucks, hard for cyclists.
- 10% Grade: Very steep. Steepest typical highway max.
- 30% Grade: Extreme off-road only (e.g. Canton Avenue, Pittsburgh).
Usage Instructions
Enter the Horizontal Distance (Run) and Elevation Change (Rise). The tool calculates Grade percentage and Angle in degrees.
